Hey Ya'll. I'm Shelby, the one-woman behind this one-woman show: Cactus to Pine. 

In January of 2019, while living in Atlanta, GA and working full-time in the film industry.  I was on the search for a climbing sticker. Unable to find exactly what I was looking for, I decided to just DIY-it. 

I ordered the minimum required by the printing company and offered a few to friends via my personal Instagram. The feedback was amazing. So many friends reached out to get one. But the real spark came when a climbing group out of California inquired about a bulk order. I realized not only did I LOVE the idea that my art would be in climber hands around the country, but I could actually earn a side income by doing so. I added a few more designs and Cactus to Pine was born.

In March of 2020 (like so many other) I lost my job and my focused shifted to trying to grow my business with the goal of going full-time. By the end of 2020, that goal was a reality and I started making moves. I sold my house, bought a camper and have spent the past three years living on the road and selling my goods at climbing festivals and crags all around the country! For three years, I bounced between the mountain west and my family and friends in the south east. Eventually, I was ready to put down some roots and decided to return to NC and the Blue Ridge Mountains I spent my childhood in. 

For a year, I lived out of my camper just outside of Asheville looking for land to call my own. And in 2024, I found the perfect little 11 acres to start building my home. 

I'm so excited to root down in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and begin to find community here. And to see where my art and business grows.
